Clinical Analysis of Reoperative Cases for Lumbar Spinal Stenosis

Abstract
Spinal stenosis is defined as a condition involving any type of narrowing of the spinal canal. The goals of surgical treatment in lumbar spinal stenosis is the relief of pain and restoration of neurological function. Complete decompression is
very
important for the surgical treatment of the spinal stenosis. But it may produce the segmental instability or spondylolisthesis as postoperative complication. Authors have experienced 45 cases of spinal stenosis by surgical treatment. Reoperations
were
done in 5 cases between 1991 to 1993 at the department of orthopaedic surgery, Ewha womans university hospital.
The purpose of our study was to analyze the probrem in the first operation of 5 cases, to be a standard for the adequate surgical treatment.
